What is GEBA’s GIC?
A contract with an insurance company that provides principal preservation and pays a fixed rate for 5 years. In 2009, GEBA introducted the Stable Value Account (SVA) as a replacement to the GIC.
How is Stable Value Account like the old GIC?
Stable Value Accounts are tax-deferred investments suitable for IRAs and annuities. Like the GIC, the SVA provides quarterly statements and apply interest every two weeks.
How is this different from the old GIC?
- Increased diversification and lower company specific risk
- No maximum contract period or rate
- Returns adjust gradually to reflect market rates
