GEBA Scholarship Programs

Since its 2005 inception, the Scholarship Program has awarded 555 merit-based financial scholarships awards to admirable students and member-students totaling $1,375,500. GEBA Scholarships offer annual financial educational assistance awards to lighten the financial burden of higher education for our core members (active and/or retired federal employees and military).  

The GEBA Board of Directors voted unanimously to offer scholarships and Member Educational Program Awards (MEAP) for the 2025/2026 academic year as follows:

  • Up to 40 merit-based scholarships, each valued at $2,500
  • Up to 10 Member Educational Award Program, each valued at $2,500

Application Deadlines

The deadline for both scholarship award programs is March 29, 2024.

GEBA awarded $100,000 in merit-based scholarships to 40 students and $12,500 to 5 MEAP winners for the 2024-25 school year! Congratulations to all of the winners!

Annual GEBA Scholarships

The GEBA Board of Directors is committed to helping deserving and diverse students pursue an eclectic range of academic pursuits. Since its 2005 inception, the Scholarship Program has awarded 475 merit-based financial scholarships awards to admirable students totaling $1,075,500.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Board approved a total of up to 40 merit-based scholarships – each worth $2,500. This scholarship money provides a way to reduce the financial burden on students and their families.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, merit-based scholarships have three categories: Academic, Community, and Career Training. An applicant can only apply for one scholarship category per year. To be eligible to sponsor themselves or their child(ren), members must have a plan in place for at least three years (since December 31, 2020).

Member Educational Award Program (MEAP)

This program was designed to provide educational assistance to members who were working full-time to fund their part-time studies or to pay off their student loan debt. Since its inception in 2013, the GEBA Scholarship Foundation has awarded $166,500 to 78 GEBA members through the Member Educational Award Program.

The GEBA Board of Directors voted unanimously to offer up to 10 MEAP awards, each valued at $2,500 for the 2024-2025 Academic year. 

The MEAP program is a member-only benefit. Eligible members must have a plan for three years or more (since December 31, 2020) and have a minimum of three years as a federal employee or military serviceperson. Learn more about the MEAP program here.

The two educational award programs are administered by International Scholarship and Tuition Services (ISTS), a firm that specializes in managing sponsored scholarship programs. ISTS selects the recipients of the awards. Learn more about ISTS
